Hi Gareth,
Only medium size by Japanese standards

You get used to them after a while here.

It still amazes me to feel a huge building shifting back and forth under me though

Everyone should try an earthquake at least once, obviously not a huge one that brings everything crashing down  , but the sensation is amazing, scary and fascinating all at the same time

Small ones almost weekly.
Medium to large monthly,
xlarge 1 or 2 a year.
xxxlarge hopefully not while I'm here

The biggest I ever experienced was at 3:00am and I woke thinking that someone really strong was throwing me around
All of my stuff had fallen from the bathroom shelf into the bog
And my TV, which was on a stand with wheels was on the other side of the room.

The epicentre was Bargoed South Wales and people in Dudley (Birmingham) felt it too
