Re: SATURDAY

Afternoon to all. With guidance from stiimpreza1984 I have done my first engine oil and filter change. Yipeee. Once the under tray is off the oil filter is one of the most easily accessable ones I've ever done. Much more confident now.

Just wondering, can anyone recommend a place where I can buy either a trolley jack or ramps that will be suitable for the next time I do this. Reason I'm asking is that I borrowed a trolley jack and to lift the car high enough to put the axle stands underneath it felt like the jack was nearly at its maximum.

I viewed this:

The ramps look ideal for what I need - but I'm sure they will be expensive too.

Any advice/recommendations will be greatly appreciated

As for the ramps you might get them in Halfords or in a Good Car parts shop pricey a bit id say

Re: SATURDAY

Cheers both for your replies. The 2 tonne trolley jack is very similar to the one I borrowed - it just didn't feel right when it was approaching its maximum height. Anyway I've got a few months before I do it again (hoping I've put it all back properly). I'm real glad that I've done it - I'm sure the dealer (not Subaru) that I got it from didn't do much of a service at all on it before I bought it. I took me about one and a half hours in total to do it (I can hear all your laughter!!) but I'm happy with the result.
For all the quality mechanics out there - much respect - you've got no competition from me!!

Re: SATURDAY

Cheers for that mate. I guess to check for leeks from the sump plug I need to remove the small cover within the under tray. For the oil filter there is a rectangle cut out of the under tray so I guess that can be done with a torch.

Re: SATURDAY

You said it prob dont really need to take the under cover off any more to see for leaks you will see if they was a leak cause it will drip onto ground anyway with the holes on the undercover so you would see it fella
