Coolant Temp Sensor Location '95 Impreza

Hello All,
Thanks in advance for all your advice. It's a relief to have the experience of all the members to look to for answers.

I have a 1995 Subaru Impreza with the 1.8L engine. The car starts very poorly when cold. The cooling fans come on as soon as the key is turned, even when the engine is stone cold. After a minute or so the engine begins to run smoothly but idles very high. Once the engine is fully warmed up it runs okay. I bought a new coolant temperature sensor but can't locate the old one.

Someone told me it's mounted on the radiator but I don't see it. I know on some models it's located on the intake. Can someone help me with the location?

Thanks again.

Chopper

On the early uk turbo 2.0L It is positioned directly underneath the air intake pipe on the block... not on the radiator

Hope this points you in the right direction
