Hi! I Have a mate with a wrx that broke down today, first it just cut out, and would not start again, then after some time sat by the wayside it started and run perfect but as he went to pull away it made it about two or three feet then cut out again, so started it again and it ran fine but would still not drive, and now when you start it the car revs to nearly 5k without touching the pedal and still does not drive... any ideas!!!

Hi.

Could be the maf sensor. Unplug the maf sensor and if it runs then you blew your maf sensor. Check the connection terminal at the maf sensor, it may be loose or corroded. Also check for a vacuum leak.

Hi! 2002pete thanks for the reply, I tried unplugging the MAF sensor but it would not start at all then, I reconnected it and now the car wont start!!!!
