Re: hi im a newbie

there are a few decent shot of 02 engine bays on here..Pete will have some good shots of his and Bugeyed_Bob will have a few..i can't picture one atm..you realise it'll need mapping now due to the change otherwise it'll run like a bag of 5***...

Normally white smoke is coolant, grey/black is fuel and blue is oil. It could be the turbo oil seal.

Re: hi im a newbie

could also be oil in the exhaust/cat burning out from when the previous engine died..

did you use the whole 99 motor or just the bottom end? As the heads an inlet manifold are quite a bit different from 01 on because of different injectors.

where on the turbo side? theres alot of places it could leak from that area
ie; banjo bolts on the turbo, loose pipe clip on the header or under the inlet manifold, failed o-ring on the alloy coolant pipe that crosses the block under the inlet manifold, loose pipe clip on heater matrix pipe.
to name a few

vac pipe from bov goes to the top of the inlet manifold (just infront of the throttle body usually) but anywhere on the inlet will do.
