Earnhardt defies illness to keep hopes alive.
Dale Earnhardt Jr overcame strep throat, sore joints, and contact with the wall halfway through the race to finish sixth in Sunday's Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, and was rewarded with a move to third place in the tightest Chase standings ever.
