325bhp and I'm not sure how!!!!!

Hello guys and girls, I'm a newbie to Subaru's and thus this forum and could do with some help. I have recently bought a 2002 sti prodrive and in the service history is a dyno print out from 2007 showing 325bhp. The only documented modifications is a walbro 255 pump and a "chipped uk" generic map. I have replaced cracked headers with s/s equal length and fully decatted with a 3" turbo back system and fitted a k&n typhoon CAID. Just took it to Eurospec in Aldershot to have a ecutek map put on. The first RR session showd 250 4WHP and 325 FHP. It is running slightly lean so they looked at the map and it is a standard PPP map.

To sum up:

2002 sti PPP
Equal length headers
Fully decatted and 3" turbo back custom exhaust
Walbro 255 fuel pump (suspected failing due to lean AFR)
And standard PPP map

Anyone with any ideas as to how it can be producing so much BHP on a relatively standard car????

Any answers welcomed and nice to meet you all,

Jim.

will be the headers and decat doing it. the PPP just ups the boost slightly and throws fuel at it, if its not mapped for the headers and decat your very very lucky it hasn't done any damage

Dyno figures could also be booloxs Wouldnt be the first time a dyno centre has 'enhanced' the after figure to prove that their 'chip' or remap worked wonders. There may well have been a chip on it (probably a superchip type folling device) that would up the boost even more but it is not the way to go with it.

Re: 325bhp and I'm not sure how!!!!!

Thanks for the replies guys

Dynamix:
It hasn't had a remap yet, need to replace the fuel pump first. The guys at Eurospec loaded the standard ppp map back in and it pulled the same bhp give or take 2bhp so I am inclined to beilive them.

Tidgy:
That's slightly worrying ti think it may do damage, but I shall not be driving it until the pump is sorted and it is mapped.

Shambles:
Eurospec did say to me that Prodrive did claim a 305bhp figure but they have never seen a standard one pull over 300bhp, more often than not 290bhp ish, making a rough 35bhp increase which still seems alot for just decat and headers.

As I stated in the original post I'm new to Subaru's and appreciate your replies. Looking forward to getting the map done and seeing what it will pull then. Thanks again guys.

check with Duncan - he knows more about these engines than most tuning shops. Id get him to do the mapping and advise if you need the fuel pump. Cant do any harm fitting it anyway. He maps on the road which is the best way of doing it IMHO.

I'd say they were right - mostly the ppp cars show less than 300 on dynos but changing the exhaust parts will improve power, wouldnt necessarily be safe though. Can you post the graph ?

Fuel pump is already part of the ppp so not needed unless it is tired...

always worth checking if the pump has actually been fitted as part of the PPP.
