Classic Impreza - Stroker Kit

Hi

Seeing though I have about three different oil leaks from the engine I am going to rebuild the thing now and I am going to go for a stroker kit but not sure which has been tried and tested. There are obvioulsy one on Ebay but was just wanted to know what people thought and if anyone had any recomendations.

I am going to try and get it running about 500 - 550 max.

Any help would be apprecaited.

Cheers

Paul

Re: Classic Impreza - Stroker Kit

500 is a pretty serious build, just throwing a stroker kit at it prob wont do it reliably

Yes, I know I am going to have to go bigger turbo, injectors, oil cooler, pump etc etc but I just wanted to make sure whatever kit I put in would be able to handle it.
To be honest I would be happy with anything over 450 but running well.

Re: Classic Impreza - Stroker Kit

forged 2.5 would be the best option in that case, much more torque

Re: Classic Impreza - Stroker Kit

but the 2.1 can rev like a 2ltr.

give Martyn at Alan Jeffery - Engine Tuner high performance engine tuning and engine building a ring and ask for his advise as they have built many 2.5 and 2.1

2.5 is less revy, but kicks out so much more torque it more than makes up for it.

horses for courses realy, but for road use the extra low down torque of the 2.5 makes it by far the best suited.

to some extent, once on power there wont be much difference between either, but, if your lower in the rev range and suddenly want to go you have to drop one or two cogs. the 2.5 will have more grunt at that lower point meaning you don't have to drop a cog. Plus put a simlar power 2.1 next to a 2.5 off the line and the 2.5 will disapear.

Don't forget acceleration is all about torque not bhp
