Slight Problem

I got my first scooby yesterday which is a bug eye sti. I notice if I boot it in first gear it judders very slightly ( couple of times) and then goes smooth. Its fine in other gears. Its also fine if I dont boot from first?

Hope someone can help with this.

Thanks

Re: Slight Problem

could be clutch related, but a word of advise, don't "boot" in 1st,will shorten the life of the box and clutch..

Re: Slight Problem

good luck with the warranty on the clutch with the garage...if it is the clutch they always try and get out of this..saying warranty doesnt cover clutch etc.

Re: Slight Problem

Agree with points above could be clutch, don't rally 1st gear and dealer will say clutch wear and tear not covered under warranty.

What's the mileage?

Legally if you have just bought the car then although wear and tear items arnt covered under warrenty the clutch should still be servicable upon purchase.

ie if you have done less than 50 miles or so then i would go back and say clutch is badly worn and had clutch judder. any more than 50 miles and they can say you've burnt it out yourself which im not saying you have but ive seen lots of new scooby owners riding clutches due to not been used to driving a 200+ bhp car so it does happen.

Very grey area really and if you approach the garage in the correct manner try and broker a 50/50 deal on the new clutch

But again dont rally in 1st, or the box will be next

And they will turn round and say have you been using the car to its full potential,
They know what your going to be like, after going from a Fiesta to a Impreza sti ur gonna rag it,launch it etc,
A clutch, brake pads and the tyres, wont be covered and you will kill the clutch very easily if launching it wrong.

Re: Slight Problem

6th gear, 4 up and press the throttle will show a clutch up, especially if they are fat passengers.

I would never normally try to correct you tidgy as u know more than i ever will about scooby's lol, but in this case i do disagree, clutch judder in first is normal on a worn clutch, ive had it on my first classic impreza, and ive changed many clutches in many cars with that same issue, although i wouldnt rule out boost issues either,
