Turbo upgrade

Right, i have decided. Through talkin with a ton of people i am going for the TD05 as it is most suited for what I want, around 300 BHP, a safe limit to pay with as dontwanna waste money as got family to think about

So, TD05 sounds the way togo, just gotta get fuel pump then remap. Anyone have any ideas how much itll kick out with turbo back exhaust, induction kit and remap? And what would be best for this power area that I am expecting, 16g? 18g? 20g? Im pretty new to it all lol But I am def going for the TD05 as they are more readily available and not silly expensive.

Cheers guys

Re: Turbo upgrade

hi mate,

im assuming its a wrx? What year is it? If its a 2.5 an 18g will do you nicely. And you wont have to upgrade injectors

Re: Turbo upgrade

If all ur doing is changing the turbo and mapping it id go TD05 16g, its no use just sticking any turbo on, a 18 or 20 g TD05 will be laggy and u will need to change injectors, ur after wrx power really, so a TD05 16g and fuel pump/panel filter and map it imo,
Then wait for ur clutch to go lol

Re: Turbo upgrade

on that age/model then a vf35 or 34 would be a far better suited turbo.

Re: Turbo upgrade

its a better turbo, the casting on the td05 isn't the best and they give varialble results. a vf35 will give about 330 on 99% of cars set up right, a 34 around 340 ish, bith have similar spool which is very similar to the td05. plus a td05 needs either modifying or funny pipework to fit to a 99 car

not every car will though bud, 330 is a good average thast normaly within 5bhp (depending on setup of course). its very rare you dont see a 35 do 330 though

Re: Turbo upgrade

ive a td05 16g front entry which is a straight fit for ure car mate, was completely refurb in aug 08 by andy forrest and is gd for 340bhp only wanting 200 plus delivery around 10quid,

the following is taken from andys website

AFP5-16 - is based on the 90 degree inlet TD05 16G from the 93-96 cars and can also be converted to front entry to suit 97 onward cars. This turbo is very popular on installations aiming for up to 340bhp. It is available as a fully re-manufactured unit or new. This turbo will typically spool up to 1 bar boost by 3000rpm and full boost by 3300rpm.
