TD05???

Ok, i got a pretty much standard 2L turbo my99. I have been told by 'subaru specialist' that i can get away with bunging a TD05 on the car and remap without any change of fuelpump, fuel lines etc? I have a 3 inch turbo back system at present and just about to put on samco hosing. Is this true what the 'specialist; has said? I will of course bung a induction kit and dump valve on.

If I can go ahead, what are believed to be the typical gains fo such a set up? I could go straight in for remap, but for the price of a TD05 its def worth doing the whole package.

Re: TD05???

personaly i'd go with a vf35 or vf34, you will need a fuel pump though, other than that mapped and all good

Re: TD05???

Honestly I do not know, all I was told was to go for TD05! I am after more power on lowish funds. Turbo and remap for about a grand? Dont wanna piss around too much with all fuel pumps etc due to cash

not sure wher eyou got that from, spool is about the same.

the g bit means a different size exhaust, 16g being the smallest, 20g being the biggest

Problem with TD turbos is the power they produce varies alot, i've seen 20g's max out at 330bhp and also seen them max out at 405bhp.

also one to looka t its a billet sc36, been getting better results spool and power wise than the comparable ones

yeah its rubbish fella. same old same old, not everything you read on the net is true. alot of turbo complaints tend to be setup issues, i've seen vf35's max out at 310 giving there absolute bollox and it always turns out to be a issue somewhere and once rectified they pull the usual 330ish. TD are pretty unreliable when it comes to performance figures. The castings on them aren't brill, a 90 bend one actualy has a lip on the internal inlet pipe, creates a really nasty eddy in the airflow. with all the new turbos coming out they have def had there day.

that file come off the nasioc site by the way?

Re: TD05???

Okay Okay, this is opening my eyes up a bit more now!! Apart from exhaust I am running standard. I want more power but not to the realms of destroyin standard engine or gearbox so prob stay around the 300bhp mark. So at the end of it all my car will have, 3inch turbo back exhaust (already on), Samco hosing (on order), induction kit (next) Remap and turbo, so its just the turbo side that is bugging me. Lets say for arguments sake im running standard 218 BHP despite exhaust, what is everyones opinion on a specific turbo to go for, straight turbo not 90degree. Think I shall stay away from TD series, thats the going consensus im gettin from u guys!
