turbo inlet pipe?

Been told that a new turbo inlet pipe for my 2000 awd turbo my99 would make great upgrade for my old standard. it looks bit worse for ware. Do they make much difference and are they easy to fit? Whats involved without me having to look under the bonnet just yet lol
