Had all my new mods done, had to take it back twice as the revs keep dropping down to 0 when I'm slowing down coming upto junctions at which point the engine cuts out, I lose power steering and it generally trys to kill me.got it back yesterday the flange on the front of the turbo being reworked to sort a suspected airleak. Just been down to the local shop this morning on the way back couple of cars flashed me. When I pulled up at the next junction smoke poured out the intercooler scoop. They are recovering Tuesday to find the problem. Very unhappy bunny, £2k spent on the engine should make it faster not stuck on the driveway surely?

for 2k u shud have a reliable car mate. have u gav it the beans by any chance. do u have boost gauges or any charge temp gauges. does your car still have water in it. then again u would know by temp rising. i reckon sombody on here may know an answer

The engine temp was fine,the smoke and heat was coming from the turbo area so I'm suspecting that as it was a used turbo that maybe that has let go? I don't have any gauges. I'm also thinking that it could be that causing the revs to drop to nothing and stall the car? But I'm just guessing at this point. If it is the turbo I think I'll pay the difference and get a new modified 16g from Andy Forest they are better power rated aswell..... Fingers crossed

what was the milag on turbo if u know by any chance. it may well have give up but dont know if the car would still run but badly an idle but hope damage isnt that bad. ave u had tmic off to ceck if any turbine blades ir anythin metal about

I haven't touched anything as it's under warranty for the work carried out. Checking out other tuning threads, I'm wondering if it could be the fact that they left the up pipe cat inplace and some tuners say it can lead to that burning out ?

No lumpy idle or engine light mate, may just have been lucky(ish) that it hasn't properly caught. I'm hoping not because I don't really want all that rubbish going through the system. What ever the outcome of the problem I just hope it's quick to solve

same here mate. even for the age the cars get too technical now. it just seems scary the smoke coming out the bay. id s**t meself. i was doin 140 + other day with another scoob an at 1 pint the car didnt feel right when i backed off so i took it easy. all gauges were registring fine an oil was 5 degree above normal an went took it easy was allfine but i wont chance it again

yea mate. i had mine mapped an when the turbo been givin some beans it sounds like it whistle light an heavy an it called compressor surge but nothin to worry bout but yea with a turbo car i cant drive 1 without a gauge. i dunno if this be the same sound as u getting though

needs looking at, whoever did your work i'd take it back and get them to look at it.
was it a specialist you took it too?

I took it to Triton Motorsport, they are independent Subaru specialists. They run their own cars in the sunseeker rally and various other events. They are recovering my car this morning to look at it. If the s/h turbo has let go they can't go back to their supplier because they modified it. I'm thinking to get a decat up pipe put inplace even if that wasn't a contributing cause so that doesn't take out the turbo later on. From all the threads I've read on it, I don't know why they didn't advise it

All the work and parts are under warranty so,it will only be what i choose to change that will cost me. I will phone just before they close to get the low down on on the problem. To be fair they have been very appologetic about the whole thing.Im just hoping that the remedy is as quick

Right,cars just gone. hes looked at the turbo coolent level and that has dropped so he thinks it probably has something to with the cooling system for the turbo.He is phoning me later today to let me know and should be dropping the car back tomorrow morning
