Re: new seats

use a resistor like you do when you replace a steering wheel for a non airbag style,
Unplug the the seat and get a multimeter on the airbag circuit to work out what size you need.

Re: new seats

Thanks bugeye_bob, is it an easy job to work that out, would i be right in thinking, put the multi meter on ohms and use a resisitor with the same value or am i way off?.

Re: new seats

Hi

Just the thread I've been looking for! I'm a 1st time WRX owner, had a forester turbo s for the past 3 years.

I'm picking up a 2004 WRX (UK spec) today from a local car dealer, the previous owner has fitted STI seats and told the dealer that the airbag light comes on now and then, he says it's something to do with the seatbelt pre-tensioners and wiring differences between the WRX and STI seats.

What I want to know is, will this affect the safety of the car? I'll be taking my missus and 2 young kids in the car a lot and want to make sure that if anything happens then the airbags will work.

Out of interest, where can I find the wired connection to fit a resistor? I take it that fitting one will stop the light issue but will it affect the safety in any way?

Thanks
Davy

Re: new seats

If your airbag light comes on then the Pretensioners and airbags wont go off, the light is to show you have a fault,
Id be talking to the Local dealer really to get it sorted.

Re: new seats

Bob,

Thanks for your reply. Am I right in thinking that if the airbag light is 'off' then the airbags will work? and is it only when it is 'ON' that they won't?

I'll be getting it checked anyway, cheers
