1994 WRX Jap Import - Target 300bhp what would this take?

Hi,

I have a 1994 WRX import and want to get to around 300bhp, what would this take? also what would the standard max boost pressure be for my car?

Its pretty standard at the mo with just a cat back system fitted, im also looking for a suspension and brake setup that would be usable for track days

Im sure im asking age old questions here so appologies for that but im totally new to the WRX!

cheers

Replace Fuel pump
Replace air filter with green cotton or K N
Possible replace turbo
Re-map or new ecu

You cant use a later ECU as all the pin outs are different and they have different amounts of plugs.

Found the thread. The guy in that thread isn't clear wether he had it mapped when on his car or wether it had been mapped for those mods prior to installation.

I know JGM does he ESL daughterboard so they can't be that bad.

im getting the picture now! - ok one last shot at a cheap upgrade - (then i guess i will just have to put my hand in my pocket!)

a guy on ebay is selling a 1994 sti ecu - any good? - i should have said earlier that my car is the auto (no **ss taking please!)

does the auto bit mess things up ecu wise?

Re: 1994 WRX Jap Import - Target 300bhp what would this take?

ECU and engine in the auto are the same as in the manual, but I will tell you that getting 300 Bhp from an auto WRX (220 Bhp) will put a lot of strain on the auto box. I was told that they are only good up to about 280 Bhp, and that would be at the limit of their tolerance.

Re: 1994 WRX Jap Import - Target 300bhp what would this take?

agree with Wayne on that one,the early autos arn't that easy to tune and the box is restriced, hence massive power gains will break it..
