1994 WRX Engine Mods

I have just bought a 1994 WRX (Jap Import) and could really do with some advice on where to start regarding tuning the engine (please go easy as I am new to the Subaru!!)

I have reciepts for a full bottom end re-build (last summer) so hopefully that should be in decent shape. It appears to be standard apart from a free flow cat-back exhaust system

Am I right in thinking that even my older model WRX has got a cat in the up-pipe as well as the downpipe?

Also what sort of brake upgrades / suspension would people recommend for the occasional track day? (Id eventually like to get the power to around 280bhp?)
