Question spare wheel cover

Hi Guys,

May be an odd question...

I no longer carry my spacesaver spare wheel as it does not fit over the calipers (front or back), so I ditched it.
Only problem is that there is now nothing properly supporting the boot carpet in that area. (it does have a thin board under the carpet but not really enough support)

So when I put something e.g. bags of shopping, into the boot it slides to the middle and bends the carpet out of shape.

Looking for ideas on how to strengthen it without adding weight or causing any rattles. - pet hate of mine, cars that rattle or squeak!

David

Hi Dave.

"You could try plywood"

Cut some plywood the same shape as the thin board under the carpet. Plywood would be much stronger and less likely to bend in the middle.

Re: spare wheel cover

The thin board could screw a few 2x1 wood, cut to 5-6 inches and stack them on top of each other that way they support and rest on end of spare wheel metal surface and done
