FMIC or not?????

would it be worth my while buying a front mount or just fitting a bigger top mount??? My93 WRX is fairly standard, induction kit, dump valve, decat, etc, but no major engine mods. am i going to see any real gains, apart from looks, by spending the extra?

Re: FMIC or not?????

as Ed has said, air charge temps will not be an issue for you so there would be better things to spend your money on

Re: FMIC or not?????

To answer the question properly it is necessary to know current power and your power aspirations. On your slanted top mount you can probably take your car somewhere beyond 280 bhp before a front mount intercooler will make a worthwhile benefit, however, when you fit a front mount you will need a remap and because your ECU cannot be remapped you will need an aftermarket solution so as already advised you are probably better off starting with an aftermarket ECU which is likely to make a big difference on its own when mapped, and take it from there.
