engine mod advice (looking for 450bhp)

am looking at taking my uk 98 spec wagon upto between 375bhp to 500bhp over the next 12 months, am looking for anybody selling any parts that would be of use to me and also advise on what order to upgrade things etc as i cant afford to do the whole thing in one go. Just had whole car resprayed in amythist pearl purple, so that has swallowed up a decent chunk of my cash and only bought car 2 weeks ago so spent £1400 on car and £500 on repsray (its not a cheap job lol) good friend owns a bodyshop, Unique body and paint in Barnsley 07881810787. Il post pics later.

Only mods done already are

collins dump valve
blitz ml induction kit

i have an idea of things i need,

oil cooler
front mount intercooler
simtek ecu
bigger injectors
top feed fuel rail with equal length pipes
forged pistons
steel internals
uprated fuel pump
better turbo (not sure whats best suited)

this list is not exhaustive, i know il have missed stuff

Anybody have any advise or suggestions, cheers

Re: engine mod advice (looking for 450bhp)

dump the whole engine and get an sc450, will be cheaper and more reliable, plus a 6 speeder or ppg gearbox, £12 grand for engine and gearbox drive in drive out (not on same day though lol).

What?

Why dump the whole motor and get another one forged, makes no sense. You on commission?

Re: engine mod advice (looking for 450bhp)

dropping 450 in a standard 2 tlire, without relinering etc wont last, if your rebuilding anyway you may as well do the lot give reliability and performance.

Re: engine mod advice (looking for 450bhp)

how do you know it is standard internals? and what is wrong with 450bhp on standard internals?

says forged pistons & steel internals above.

Re: engine mod advice (looking for 450bhp)

and how often is your car in the workshop with issues? more often there than on the road, and thats a new age which is suposed to be better out the box than a classic sti let alone a wrx

Re: engine mod advice (looking for 450bhp)

car only been in once in the last year and that was the boost solenoid.

Surely, the car mentioned above "uk 98 spec wagon" will have had a rebuild is there ae forged pistons in it?

Re: engine mod advice (looking for 450bhp)

yours has been off the road way more than that for various different bits, and thats the whole point, its a package designed to work together and last well. throwing a few bits at it will get you the power, but it wont last.

Re: engine mod advice (looking for 450bhp)

then custom map which il hope for around 265bhp. that should swallow the best part of £1500 - £1700

Then next stage upgrade fuel rail £80 and injectors £80, turbo £600, pistons £800, uprated head gaskets, rods and bolts, not priced this up yet
