Mods part II

Morning all, been working near enough solid over the past couple of months.
Proper tired
but i've got my reasons. Nice holiday for myself and the wife later in the year, or quite soon if she has her way.
Also looking to get mi suspension swapped out, hopefully a nice set of coilovers and arb's front and rear.
Already got my strut braces and got a full bush kit all ready to go on as soon as i have the time
The great threads and advice from people that i have spoken to on here, planning to get the whiteline front and rear arb's, anti lift kit and rear lock out kit.
Just wondering what are peoples views on coilovers? and any recommendations on a specific make
The shocks and bushes have definately seen better days
Also the arb's was thinking on the 24mm adjustable ones?

just wanted to hear peoples opinions, any advice would be great appreciated
Its my second car so mainly weekend use now its sorted and back on the road and the odd trackday.........sweet

Re: Mods part II

whats a rear lock out kit?

any reason for going for coilovers over uprated shocks/springs? i run kyb uprated shocks and eibachs on mine, drops it down to a reasonable level and makes it handel much much better, but costs half the price of coilovers.

add a seto of uprated drop links all round to your list, will also make a big difference, i also had uprated steering rack bushes fitted to mine, pretty cheap mod (think around £30) but def makes the steering feel much sharper

Re: Mods part II

Sorry Tidgy its rear diff lock kit, bolts diff and subrame to chassis. apparently reduces flex in the chassis..... quite a reasonable price too
The reason i was going for coilovers cause i'll be doing a few trackdays throughout the year and more so in 2010 after other things have been done,
thought it made sense? to spend the extra
Got all the bushes for the car already, but thanks for the advise........
Myself and a couple mates got plans to do the Nurburgring next year
Yeah the standard drop links are well pony, get these next month now.

Got the mot, tax and insurance sorted now,
K346OGN passed the mot with no probs just a matter of me having the time to fit the parts, as working none stop at the mo.....

Off to work, have a good weekend all.........

is it basicly a bar that runs behind the rar diff across the subframe?

depends, are you gonna adjust the setup for trackdays, other than the stiffness? if so then will need to get geom set up correctly for each track day, then after each. if not then no point in the extra features coilovers have

Re: Mods part II

Check out TSL and Revolution247, haven't bought the part as yet, but it looks like perrin and whiteline do the same part, whiteline kit looks like two bolts that bolt up diff and subframe to the chassis through holes not used at the mo, perrin kit looks similiar......
saw the whiteline parts advertised through Revolution247 and Perrin through TSL

Was planning to get everything done to the car, suspension then brakes.
So thought getting it all done to a top knotch standard made sense.

Your views have been listened upon, but still plan to get the coilovers
Hopefully 2.5 STI engine and gearbox and diff next year.
The cars a gem (i think) i really should have studied the impreza models a bit better and got a RA, but this one come up at a very good price, full history since its been in the country one uk owner and very low miles for year on a K-plate.
So got no plans to chop it in for a later model classic.

Re: Mods part II

Yeh why not mate, you only live once.
Reckon its the way forward.

Not planning to get rid so.........Feck it

Bring on the MODS
the body work is spot on bar from a few stonechips at the front and no dents at all which is amazing considering the age.....
Want it looking standard-ish from the o/s apart from say probably bigger rims, carbon mirrors and thats it.....

It will be like a rash modding it, it will spread thats what I'am going to do with mine now to down along the line il be keeping this for a long time when engine needs to be rebuilt I'll do it and fit maybe a 6speed box I'am hearing they very strong better than the boxes in classics but saying that thank god no problems in my Sti V6 RA box 65k miles but I always double-clutch going down through the gears if I'am driving her on a bit takes a lot of strain off the synchros
