Mod: Debadging your Impreza

I was bored one day so I decided to remove the Subaru lettering from the car. Start out with some regular old dental floss and a hair dryer. Heat the emblems up to get the glue sticky and then work the floss behind the emblems to get them off:

Then use a little Goo-Gone or similar product (WD40 is supposed to work just as well) to remove the leftover adhesive:

Here we are partway done:

A bit closer:

Make sure to polish those areas where the adhesive was- I used this:

Here's a couple of shots with the lettering removed:

So what do you do with those emblems? Here's 2 ideas:

Hey Jedimaster, where did you get the small Subaru letters you have next to the trunk key hole? I ordered a small Impreza badge to go over there, but I was just curious where you found that? I have also de-badged the rear deck lid (removed the large Subaru letters) and it looks much cleaner.

I got mine from www.rallydecals.com. Good service, reasonable pricing and they have the "You just got beat by a wagon" stickers too!

We crazy Yank bastards do all kinds of weird stuff

Actually, I think the WRX has a silly effect on Americans and makes us want to do any little thing we can to personalize our cars. I've never worked on a car more than this one (for fun, I mean).

Yes I can second that JediMaster, the WRX has turned me into a crazy car modding lunatic. I have seen this effect on other people as well, and there is no known cure.

I think our UK friends have been afflicted with this "disease" for quite some time now.

Oddly, after a number of years of the same affliction, my wife is talking about wanting a Forester XT.

Not sure how I feel about that as my old school RS is not FI.

Guess I'll now be able to justify mod expenses to her now.

After 2 years of talking about my car and spending countless hours messing with the WRX, my ex-girlfriend finally wanted a WRX. But it had to be just a certain color, blah blah. I wonder why I'm not with her anymore? It can't be the car can it?
