Question newage to classic running gear

hi is it possible to swap all the running gear from a newage into a late classic but keeping the original engine and maybe gearbox and which parts would need to transfered?

ive seen a video on youtube (search jdm v usdm) and 1 bloke kept the original classic running gear but dropped the 2.5 sti engine into it.

thanks in advance

I'm not after power gains just more reliability. I know my engine is good just wondering if the newage rear diff and anything else that goes with it would swap over without any issues or would I need to swap the gearbox and clutch as well.

the weak link is the engine and gearbox on the classics, the 2 things your keeping,
that`s all I`m saying,
You dont hear of drive shaft issues at normal power.

Re: newage to classic running gear

when you say more reliability from running gear in what way?

running gear is gearbox, diff, and drive shafts, if you changing the diff and rear drive shafts how would that be reliable if you manage to get it on whats the goal ?

FROM WORKS THE REAL DEAL.

I am on my 2nd rear diff and the problem is its has started to make a grinding noise, its not as loud as the original, just I find it annoying and with the car being 14 years old sourcing a rear diff that is in mint condition is quite difficult.

So putting running gear on from a new model should be silent in comparison to what it is now. I know these cars suffer from rear diff whine but this is not a whine its more like a wheel bearing that has gone.

Re: newage to classic running gear

why not get your original diff overhauled, that way its brand new parts in a old case, you know its matched and is far easier then swapping the running gear over for a rear diff noise.

Well i did get one from ebay was promised it was for a UK turbo, turned out to be for an STI got a full refund.

Then got a garage to order one and fit it that was slightly more expensive, but comes with a warranty so I will go back to the garage tomorrow and see if they can just get it refurbed instead of getting it replaced.

cheers
