Updating my Impreza classic

I am just in the process of doing a few mods to my classic, car is a 1996 GC8 and when I bought it the car had a HKS air induction, stainless exhaust from turbo back (cheap powerflow one I'm told) and a piigy back chip on the ecu (don't ask me what it is as I don't know!) the ecu is a 7D same as this one;Subaru Impreza Classic WRX 7D ECU | eBay
Ok now the interesting stuff, I have since fitted a Walbro 255 fuel pump and just today purchased a J Performance fmic, a good quality stainless exhaust with a tapered 4" down pipe! and a very good VF34 turbo, My question is can I buy another ecu with the same 4 plug fitting off a later car and have my car remapped with the new mods? that way when I come to sell the car I can remove the bits and put it back to how it was, running the original ecu, which by the way is producing a healthy 263bhp on Scooby Clinics dyno. Please be gentle with me, I'm new to all this- I was running around in an offroad preped Landrover 90 before the scooby came along!

Re: Updating my Impreza classic

Hi sounds good. You will need to 4 plug ECU if thats whats in the car already. i think the ecus move to a 3 plug post 96 but im sure someone will correct me on this if wrong? Personally if youve got the money id look at Simtek, there are also alot of Apexi units being sold atm also. Ive gota GEMS ecu on my 95 and that works just aswell. Regards Gareth
