WHAT TURBO RANGE ?

Hi Peeps,

little stuck, can someone point me in the right direction in regards to what turbo path I should go down ??

Do I stick with the IHI VF series or move to the TD series ?? I'm looking to run 350-400 BHP (fingers crossed)

Cheers All
Luke

Re: WHAT TURBO RANGE ?

not sure the VF range will get you over the 400 mark without some serious mods...would be better off looking at the garret's,turbo technics and SC range tbh...

Re: WHAT TURBO RANGE ?

SC series will def be the best option, etting the best results out there at the min, not sure which will be best for the spec your running.

Whats the current engine and what mods?

Re: WHAT TURBO RANGE ?

To be totally honest without making the car struggle I want to spend the least I can for the most power I can get, but! without putting the engine at risk..

at the moment the car is standard 280 BHP, no mods as of yet, except a 255 fuel pump. Just had the head gaskets done, so head were skimmed.

Potential Mods:
Standard air filter with cold air feed kit (been told this is better than my current cone Apexi ???).
De-Cat 3" full through exhaust system 4" Tail pipe etc.
Bigger Injectors
Piggyback ECU and remap
AND
The undecided Turbo....(need a good powered one.)

Apparently I have the IHI VF23 turbs at the moment.

Please tell me if the mods above are a no go or are not gonna get me the power I'm looking at etc...

Cheers Guys !!!

Re: WHAT TURBO RANGE ?

if its still got standard rods, pistons and gearbox you don;t wan tto be going anywhere near 400.

Vf34 or sc36 will take it to about 340-350 and will be the upper limit of what you want to be aiming for. After that you start to need to look at engine rebuild and uprated gearbox.

Re: WHAT TURBO RANGE ?

Cheers matey!!!

I've been warned before about the gearbox, what could happen if I was to go up to 400 ??

To be totally honest I would be over the moon with 350, so a VF34 of SC36 it is then, does it matter what one ???

well i stripped 3rd gear of all its teeth at lower power than that lol

both good turbos, tend to get a bit more top end and a bit better spool from the sc36, i've got a vf34 on mine.

Re: WHAT TURBO RANGE ?

If I was after a new turbo, would be an SC46 for me.
