Pondering a backbox

Hey everyone, im pondering over a tasteful backbox for my 1.8 Scoob which will give me a nice burble. It is currently sporting a not so tastful Scorpion number as fitting by the previous owner which is mega loud but in a raspy and tinny kind of way (driving over 2500 rpm is just embarrassing due to the Saxoesque tackyness of the sound!)

Obviously i appreciate im never going to get a WRX/22B/P1 grumble but would like something deeper that what i have to suffer at the moment!!!

Any input/recommendations/suggestions more than welcome.......cheers guys

Re: Pondering a backbox

Yes mate it is a scorpion box, has the scorpion logo etched onto the tailpipe, under further investigation today there is a small split on the pipe behind the backbox so im wondering if thats the reason for the raspiness.

Also just inside the tailpipe is a piece of butterfly shaped metal, which im guessing act as some kind a 'tuning' device?????? lol!

Re: Pondering a backbox

bugeyebob you were indeed correct! after spending a copious amount of time on my back under the scoob repairing the mentioned split, which after further investigation turned out to be a rather large hole i now a nice rumble again.

This however is temporary until i can get my hands on a vortex afterburner as i have heard some good reports
