ecu upgrade?

hi all newbie here with some questions u all probly heard a million times lol bear with me im new! ok got a 96 turbowagon heard a z4 ecu is a good beginners upgrade to gain some horses. seen a few for sale one has a polar chip fitted on it as well. are these polar chips uk or jap? emailed a seller on ebay and he said the one he was selling came with his scooby when he bought it. think his scoob is an import. would this run on my uk wagon ok? mine is 4 plug ecu which i think the z4 is as well. there was also a guy selling a ecu with a prova chip but ive heard that these are not good for uk cars? if the polar one would fit do i reset the ecu and the chip would reset or learn to fuel for uk fuel? thanks for any info as im about to pull the trigger on one if it will fit and run ok. cheers. ps . car is pretty standard cat back exhaust and dump valve and green panel filter coming.

Re: ecu upgrade?

Your car should have a Z4 ECU anyway.

The Polar Performance chip should be fine as long as you are only going for small gains on the mods you mention. If you have any plans for bigger power in the future the Polar chip will not be up to the job as it is a generic map for a standard engine with very basic modifications iirc.

Re: ecu upgrade?

Thanks for the reply m8. Don't want to go mad with the mods. Would be happy with 260-280 in that region. Mine is a uk wagon m8 so It's not z4. I pulled up the carpet and it's a 7d a18000d0b. If that means anything to you lol. Will this ecu have the plug fitted to take a chip as I think I read somewhere that uk ecus have the fitment
to take a chip ? Thanks for ur info m8.
