Noise after dump valve installation?

Hi guys, just installed a dv10 baileys dump valve to me turbo 2000. Got the whoosh at last lmao BUT, is it right that I should hear the turbo spool so much louder? I mean alot louder. I know its the turbo as it only makes the noise when under boost, not in vacuum. Is this right?

Any help gratefully received.

Re: Noise after dump valve installation?

lol Dont you worry its gone now :P I know what they do with the vented and fuel mix ect but I wanted to give it a whirl. As much as I want the sound I aint happy with the whining turbo. Good old faithful standard was put back on this morning

Nothing ventured nothing gained as they say. Or in my case something ventured and something not liked lol

Cheers for input guys. I was orginally looking at HKS SSQV valve but think ill stay away from all Vent to air.

Thanks again

Re: Noise after dump valve installation?

Right, as you know I have taken valve off as didnt like the noise or way it performed. I said it made the turbo seem to make a horrible whine only on boost and this increased with more boost. Since I have had my standard dump valve back on the sound had gone. Until today, it is very very faint but not been there before. Anyone got any suggestions? I'm kinda hoping its just a boost pipe issue ect as went when put other dump valve back on as the other blocked off recirc pipe. Has anyone had this before?

Just after ideas before I start ripping engine bay apart.

Cheers, Martin

Re: Noise after dump valve installation?

I got the same spooling up noise on my turbo 2000 after I fitted a big bell mouthed decat pipe, UEL headers and induction kit.

I did have the intercooler/dump valve off at that time to get more access room but I put the noise down to having all the other parts fitted and thaught the noise sounded good. lol.

If you find out it is a fault please let me know so I can repair mine too lol.

Cheers

your noise is from the IK (hope you had it mapped after your mods).

IK? I take it you mean intake kit? What about for mine I still have standing airbox unit on mine. I take it from what ur thinking bob is that mine could be air related too? Leak or something?

Re: Noise after dump valve installation?

I have now removed my boost gauge (cheep type R one) and car is still whistling/whine on high boost. Car for some reason seems to pull slightly harder at the moment too. Boost gauge was showing I was hitting just short of 16psi before I disconnected it. I have a forge actuator on the turbo. Really am lost at the moment. this noise is getting annoying. Has anyone heard of anyhing like this? It is more of a whistle I'd say.

Cheers,Martin

thats sounds like a air leak, have you had the TMIC off and checked the Y pipe underneath ?

No I have not mate. I take it your think air leak rather than boost leak? Just so I got an idea where to go sniffing around

Re: Noise after dump valve installation?

o yeah, it SEEMS to be coming from turbo side of car if that any help. Noise was 10 times louder with baileys dump valve on it. Started from that point. Cheers, Martin

Re: Noise after dump valve installation?

Going on what you said Bob, I have just had a thought to DV gasket? Just ordered new one in. Seems strange how sound was VERY loud with baileys and now calmer but still there with standard. So really the only area I can think of (with easy access) is the DV as this is only part touched. If that fails then IC unit is coming off tonight. Keep you updated
