dashboard removal

Does anyone know how difficult and how long it takes to remove and refit a dashboard in the impreza (97)?

I have the most annoying squeak coming from inside the dash and can only guess that something is loose.

any help greatly appreciated.

Send a PM to 2002pete, he will advise you on what to do.

Scotty.

This all depends on how far you want to strip it, the drivers side is very easy with a bit of patience and a star screwdriver, the passenger side is also quite easy until you get to the air con unit which I did not remove as I had to many bits lying on my drive by then, you should be able to access most parts without removing the whole thing just do some digging and see how far you get remembering the order they came out
good luck

strip and rebuild of the driverside took me about an hour on the first time of trying,
Passenger side including a few consol bits took about two hours but there was a bit more install to be done.

basically whole dash needs to be removed as the squeak is coming from around the air vent on top of the dash, i have tried every way to get to it so this is the last resort. even with a very noisy pipe the squeak can still be heard when going over even the slightest bumps

I then suggest that you start on a sunday morning and take it one screw at a time Once the speedo clocks are out I cant see there being to much of a hassel just some patience and a lot of tea should get you through. remember to diconnect your battery

tried to do some today, I removed the whole bottom section of the dash. I have located the area of the squeak (between heater matrix and vent on top of the dash) bus still cant get to the exact location, it is now driving me crazy cos it sounds like a crazy canary, even wobbling the gear lever or tapping the seat gets it going everything I could get to got a light misting of WD40
I now feel confident to remove the whole dash and kill this canary
