boost gauge.

Hi there. So i've got an HKS pillar mounted boost gauge, and i'm trying to figure out the actual amount of boost i'm running. When the car is idleing, it sits at -0.5, and when at full chat it's at 0.7, i was wondering if it is calibrated right, and is it normal to be running at negative boost, so i am running at 0.7. Or at idle should it read 0, so i am actually running around 1.2? Personally i'm thinking it should be the latter, but if someone could clear this up it would be great. Cheers.

Re: boost gauge.

On the subject of upping the boost, i was thinking of fitting one of these boost control valves (Hybrid Boost Controller) Along with ditching the dump valve that came with the car (baileys) and getting a forge alloy oem dump valve. I was wondering what else do i need to accurately adjust the boost once the valve is fitted? As i don't want to be fiddling away and guessing where to have it.....

Re: boost gauge.

As above - get it mapped and your boost will be taken care of properly

Hi Guys been traveling home yesterday. 3 planes, door to door 25hrs n no sleep. Been up since 3am with jet lag... Anyhow, the prob with mapping is that mine's a classic, which from what i've read, can't be mapped. Unless i change the ecu, even second hand Apexi's on ebay go for around 4/500, then i need to get it mapped to the car, a few more 000's n to be honest, i can't quite justify the expense of that. Tho i have seen these,SUBARU IMPREZA WRX EJ20-T GC8 GF8 PROVA ECU FREE POST on eBay (end time 12-Mar-11 12:49:46 GMT) Any thoughts? Or maybe a stupid question, but could i fit the ecu out of a wrx bugeye n have that mapped to the car? Cheers, Andy.
