psychological perfomance

yesterday, as it was overcast and cruddy in north east london, i decided to give the old girl a rub down and a good waxing.

today the sun's back out and she's out there sparkling like a car show prototype car.

anyway, i took her for a ride and it seems to be running smoother and faster.... i know its not, its psychological, just because its clean. Anyone else suffer from this disorder?
i always find hoovering out the inside and shampooing the seats makes it faster too

Same here. Car runs like a dream (in my head at least) when she's been treated to a wash and a couple of coats of wax. I reckon it improves the drag co-efficient by reducing friction as air passes over the body work.

Re: psychological perfomance

yeah. yeah i reckon that too. less microbes of grit create less drag. and think of all the weight-shedding from removing the mud from the arches ;-)

Re: psychological perfomance

well with new tyres they are all square until you have done a few miles and you have shaped them so u may have a slightly higher rolling resistance for a short period of time, so maybe not as mad as we think you are.

Re: psychological perfomance

the mate who sells tyres always recommend a wee bit off wheel spin to take the shine off them - he is a rally driver though lol
