impreza vs evo

hi, i am thinking of buying an awd- car again after several rwd-cars. Right now i am stuck between the evo 8-9 and the impreza WRX STI from 05-06. i know this is a impreza-forum but probably some of you have had an evo in the past and can tell me your experience with these cars. would you sell your impreza for an evo?

Re: impreza vs evo

Hi. Ive been in a few evo's & love the looks of the evo 8-9. All were pretty much standard that i went in but wouldnt swap my RA for any of them.

Re: impreza vs evo

Was in some Evo's also and as above wouldnt swap my RA for an Evo, but to be fair deep down inside I love um, and also think they a bit more serious car than the impreza with their AYC so less fun but for cornering the Evo is outstanding imo

Ive driven a few and find them very numb to drive, no feedback and you feel detached from the experience of driving, all imho,
I prefer the feel of the impreza, but if you were to compare a standard UK turbo and put it against a Evo ud maybe think woow scoobs are slow.

Re: impreza vs evo

evo's tend to break more easily, - or so i'm told, and if comapring you can only compare with the STI, or RA, or Spec C as hinted above

and have to be serviced at shorter intervals,
if u cant drive a Evo is defo a safer option as the computers catch you.

When i was looking for a car i did notice that the evo's seem to hold their money better.

Re: impreza vs evo

To be honest, standard an Evo is better than almost all Impreza's bar the very best of them by which I mean Type RA/R (STi guise only), Spec C's, Type RA-R or the S202/3/4. Have driven a few Evo 6's & 7's as well as lots of STi's and standard the Evo's go quicker, stop better and corner faster. However, Impreza are generally far better looking (especially modified) and they sound heaps better. A few simple (and reasonably cheap) mods and you'll have a car that is at least the equal of the Evo and most importantly you'll have more friends.

Considering the prices of 2nd hand Evo's and STi's, i would recommend getting the best STi (preferrably JDM if you don't mind an import) your budget allows which will get you a newer, lower mileage car than an Evo for the same price. Add a couple of mods and you'll have a better car for a lot less money than the equivalent Evo.

Re: impreza vs evo

But on a plus side the evos are less hassle to service alright think they need earlier oil changes 4500miles and services as above but the inline 4 engine lot easier to work on than a flat 4, example spark plug change on Evo 5min job an Impreza 30-40mins, on the other hand you not going to get a flat 4 rumble tickover from an inline 4 engine all plus's and minus's in both whatever suits you, each to their own
