Bonjour...

...I'm back....for those of you that had noticed I'd gone

Its been a long time....

I'll keep it brief!

-Went to work abroad for a bit
-Got back. Bought my first house.
-Found out what it was like to have a negative bank balance.
-Had a VW polo introduce itself to my front and rear passenger doors.
-Found some time and some money (in the sofa) to dedicate to the car.

Erm, thats it I think....how has everyone been?! How did things end up with Andrew's write off??

Strat

Re: Bonjour...

hiya m8, glad that life has moved in positively foward direction for you. As for my Write off.........
things came good. insurance payout for the car plus buying it back off insurers and then selling car on to panel beater meant i came out with a good sum of money. I also claimed for injuries and that came in even better than the car payout!! So happy days!
I'm now a proud owner of a MY53 JDM Spec C with lots of type 20 trimmings and more(thanks to my winnings- lol) Have a look in my stats if you want to know more about the car.

What happen to your car, did you have a bump?

good to have you back
Andrew

Re: Bonjour...

slight result for you then! nice work...

...yea a guy pulled out of a side road without looking...straight into the side of the car. Gutted. Insurance have taken 3 months to date to sort out who is paying for it....I have two witness statements and, well, its pretty obvious from where he has hit the car that its his fault....I'm getting very fed up with it all.

And on top of that...I still have that surging problem and its developed a horrible metalic grinding noise in the last week...stopped driving it now its that bad.

But on the plus...house is awesome...costly...but awesome

Re: Bonjour...

bought my first house 3 years ago in the peak of the boom so i know what you mean by 'costly'. is the surging/grinding coming from your turbo ?

and as far as insurance goes,, keep phoning them up so they chase the claim! how can they even quibble it if the other driver pulled out of a junction into you?

Re: Bonjour...

RE the insurance you need to ask them what the estimated time scale is on such things and that you will ring everyday to check of the progress and Do that 9am or whatever everyday ring mate.

yea i just think its his company trying to stall it!

I have NO idea where the noise is coming from...it doesn't happen on idle so I can't tell when the bonnet is open. All you can hear is the noise coming through the bulkhead. It gets worse with speed/higher rpm...but if you drop the clutch when driving it slows down. It started off very quiet but is horrendous now. Could it be low oil? I checked the levels but had 4 different readings each time!

Re: Bonjour...

surging could be turbo related problem. Turbos also get noisey when the are on their way out. You will hear the turbo whining through the bulk head. Just an educated guess

Re: Bonjour...

good, I'm glad that'll be an expensive fix! ha

makes sense....the surging only happens on boost and the noise again is only when the turbo is spinning...

any investigation tips?

Re: Bonjour...

Whip the top mount off and where the Y pipe connects to the turbo see if there is any movement in the shaft
