Petrol

Hi all,

I've always used Tesco 99 Ron Super in the Scooby but since I've moved I haven't found a Tesco petrol station nearby so I'ev had to use other 97 Ron fuel.
I just found a local Shell petrol station selling V Power 99 Ron fuel Filled her up last night as she was on empty and within 10 minutes I noticed a huge difference in how smooth the engine was running.
Not sure why I'm making a new thread about this, maybe because it been so quiet on here lately, but I'm really surprised the at the difference between the 97 to 99 Ron fuel.

Re: Petrol

Hi matt, I've always used Tesco 99 or V Power in my WRX.

As you said in one of your other threads.

Re: Petrol

Yeah I'm chuffed with the difference it made, not that it was bad anyway but it just seemed to run much smoother.

Re: Petrol

I'm quite lucky in that my nearest petrol station is Shell. They always have V-Power in. Tesco is a bit further away and most of the time it is not available there. I've never run it on normal unleaded so I don't know what the difference in the performance of the car is.

Re: Petrol

Tesco 99 or V power, Cant tell the difference in mine, people claimed less knock on Vpower but I have seen no signs of this on the PSI3

Ive seen the Report you mean, if you mean the one including the M3 as well?
I found my NA cars ran smoother on 99, they werent anymore powerful but ran better on it.

Re: Petrol

Well found . Not sure if that was the exact test, but it comes up with the same conclusions as i remember reading.
My car is actually mapped on 97 ron fuel, but i always run it on 99 ron. I see an attraction in this due to the fact you never have to worry about det, even if running the car hard i.e on the track. so no need to put in octane boosters as a safe guard., and not having to worry about getting the correct fuel when on a long run somewhere. Also handy if you want to take the car abroad, or even to the Ring or Spa ,, - which i must get around to doing sometime soon.

Re: Petrol

Im not over worried about putting crap fuel in(95/97 ron) as I feel the ecu will handle it ok,
All I would do is put as little in as poss and run my fav fuel again, then reset the ecu,
I think its more important what fuel you use in our summers when temps really start to make a difference.

Re: Petrol

Well there you go, if i can find a local Tesco with 99 Ron I'd happily use it again but the V Power I'm using is much better that the crap I was putting in it before.
