Rolling Road Blues

With a title like that maybe this should be under the 'tunes YOU like' section LOL.

Seriously though, Merry Christmas to all and in the middle of winter many think about taking advantage of the cold weather to go on a rolling road. There is a new one opening soon next year in the mid south.

Before you go though

IMHO
Before using a rolling road:

Service your car with at least an engine oil and filter change.

Recommended to change gear and diff oils if these have not been changed in the last 10-15000 miles or put off the rolling road session until after the next major service

Check/change plugs, check leads and coil(s) for leakage/damage

Check coolant level

A rolling road will oftern have a workshop attached and will carry out this work for you before the rolling road session so when booking the rolling road don't forget to book time with the workshop beforehand (they may be fuly booked). Don't just turn up for the RR session and expect them to carry out a major service first!!

Expect a lot of noise and wind;

Expect a lower result than you were hoping for and don't slag off the RR operator if the figures were not what you had hoped for! A reputable RR operator will give accurate figures. Bhp can be affected by barometric pressure and temperature;

Expect your car to break. Some cars do break down on the RR. If you have modded your car and are pushing it to high Bhp and torque it can break from a simple plug breaking down under load (even new plugs have been known to do this) to a clutch slipping or a major engine or gearbox failure. Again, DON'T BLAME THE RR OPERATOR! He is just doing what you asked. If your car breaks it is down to you!

Don't be afraid of a RR session, just make sure your car is in good condition before hand. So I will just wish you all good luck on your next session.

O.

Re: Rolling Road Blues

Major service before a RR!!

No more dyno days then. If your car is looked after there should be no issues.

Scaremongering!

You have identified your own problems with the parts you have fitted and then developed a problem,
What car etc is this for?
A rolling road is like a health check for your car, where a Dr checks your heart & blood pressure etc to see how healthly you are a rolling road is the same thing for your car, they check what boost your running and Fueling or Air/fuel ratios (your problem) as well as tell you the power output of your car.
