Ok, spending other peoples money......... sounds like fun!

What exact year and model do you? and in what areas do you want to improve.. i.e power, brakes, chassis, body work etc

Re: all workin out now

the biggest power gain of course is by changing the exhaust system. You could even pick up a second hand one as there are plenty about. If you have a friendly MOT station then perhaps you can get a full decatted system which would get rid of back pressure and let your engine run faster. You could just keep the centre CAT/exhaust section and put it on just before the MOT. a Full exhaust system ... downpipe from turbo (open mouth/bell mouth design), centre pipe (with resonator imho, otherwise you will get lots of cabin drone), and there are many back boxes to choose from depending how loud you want to go (the scoobyworld ninja has a really nice 'loud' note). = about 600 new all in.

maybe replace the induction back to the oem airbox if you have it and add a 'green panel filter' which is not oily and will not mess with you MAF sensor which is quite sensitive.

Harvey Smith 'ported headers' (you'll find him on scoobynet) here's his website.., LINK: index
The headers will improve gas flow even more and add more torque when remapped. He will do this on an exchange basis with your exhaust manifold.

you will have to get an aftermarket ECU and then get it custom mapped with everything you've put on the car. (not sure which one on a budget. - the SIMTEK seems to be the must have toy of the moment. try here for info .... http://www.brdevelopments.com/solutions.html - go to the bottom of the page to learn about the SIMTEK ECU

Finally with the few quid left.... Ferrodo ds2500 front pads, goodridge brake line hoses and some good quality standard discs.

Just to note: running a front mount without a remap is not a great idea, so wait until nearer the time of a remap date

Your mapper will take care of safety issues when he maps the car. The front mount will really help to keep things 'cool' and safe, and the internals of your engine will be safe at 1.4 Bar of boost pressure going into it no problem. Do you know what turbo you have?

BTW i thoroughly recommend the Harvey Smith Ported Exhaust headers

Re: all workin out now

I don't think it is mate. If the car is an STI it will probably have an IHI VF series turbo. the td04 can only reach about 280bhp, 290-300bhp absolute max! Someone else on here will be able to tell you.

Re: all workin out now

it 'might' have a VF23, which is probably better than the 22.

Re: all workin out now

to be honest, you should be able to see what model it is by looking closely, or by removing the intercooler so yuou can get closer, it should be imprinted on the turbo??

Re: all workin out now

HI mate. You've got a Version 2 STi by the looks of it, which means you do have a TD turbo on there and not the VF. Subaru didn't change to the VF series until late '96 with the faceift versions.

The turbo on your car is the TD05, not the TD04.

Re: all workin out now

Thanks Wayne, i didn't want to be giving out wrong info. If it's a TD05 then it should be good for well over 300 maybe up to 350!!
