Re: Subaru tax

Only heard about this issue the other day. Really bad news for those who have bought cars imported recently. What is the cut off regsiter date for the big tax bill? and what is the reason for such tax?

Flaming shocking.

I will be paying 190.00 a year when i next tax my 2003 import due to it being under the Private/light goods and having no CO2 emissions reading. Does not really seem like a fair system does it!

Re: Subaru tax

The cost of vehicle tax : Directgov - Motoring

cars registered on or after 1 March 2001 based on CO2 emissions and fuel type
cars registered before 23 March 2006 based on CO2 emissions over 225g/km and fuel type

i'm confused. My next tax date starts 31st December 2009 and will be 190 for the year. Does that mean that after May next year i will also be on a 400 tax bracket when i retax the car in December 2010? the car is currently on a PLG tax class.

Hi Andrew, the most you would pay for your 2003 Impreza would be 245. I have a 2002 UK car in band *K over the 225 CO2 g/k figure registered before 23 March 2006. I will pay 245 in 2010.

*Band K includes cars that have a CO2 figure over 225g/km but were registered before 23 March 2006.

Re: Subaru tax

Well that's really good to hear. The car has no C02 emissions reading on the log book but has an SVA certificate. How does the government make a judgement if a there is no C02 measurement for the car?

Re: Subaru tax

My cars are jap imports and the DVLA registered them as PLG
This is not a cheat, as i was asked what i wanted to register them as
and i was advised to do this.
And the road tax is only 185.00 for 12 months

HMM maybe not but if you import a car in the future the same PLG rule applies
As there is no type approval for JDM cars

Re: Subaru tax

405 is really taking the p/ss. How do they come up with that figure in comparison to what else is on the road?
