sold the scooby today :-(

i sold the car today. for those who don't know this happened to me the other week...TOTALED

it was gut wrenching still.... it saved me the trouble of having to try and move the car that had no back wheels attached, and then storing it somewhere to try and break it ~(as was the previous plan). i sold it intact in the end to a lad who works in the body shop near to where the car was in storage.. he will hopefully 'eventually' put the car back on the road once he has sourced a back quarter, some undercarriage, suspension, wheels etc. he's a nice bloke, so best of luck to him.
i got 1500 for it, as well as getting back the 3" down pipe, centre pipe, ninja back box, forge vta dump valve, graham goode quick shift and the touch stereo head unit,,, - so i have a few souveniors for the next car, or maybe a few bits i can scrape a few quid back with.
Now i'm just waiting on the insurance payout

Andrew

Re: sold the scooby today :-(

as for insurance pay out... hopefully i will get 4000 - 400 for buying car back. so 3600+1500+ a few bits un pieces off the car,, so not so bad. more than i could have sold the car for before hand, but a lot less than what i put into the car

cheers! looks like i'm going to have to ride my push bike to work for a while. other than that i may have to get a cheap run about for a while.

i watched the lads at the garge this afternoon pickup my car with a fork lift truck to manouver it across the garage yard. it was really weird, i never thought my ownership would end in such a strange way.

Dont be in a rush anyway to buy one plenty out their id say in the UK plenty here to looked at 7-8 before I boought my V6 RA and it would put some smile on your face just ask Wayne and Ian to its a great hardcore car could get the limited to Wayne will tell you everything what he has in his V5 RA he has the limited he has the electrics I dont you want less weight or what I have the manual windows, mirrors, No A/C and No ABS very little sound deadening but its not as loud on the motorway as my last DC2's Integra Type R's they louder cruising along the motorway but if I was you RA all the way close ratio group N gearbox I would say tough as fcuk but Wayne would disagree with me with that Id say and some other classic owners here had no issues in my box tank god tip wood

Very sad day mate.

Still, you get to go shopping for a new motor.

They are nice cars and in the best colour. Bit lardy compared to the RA though.

Re: sold the scooby today :-(

oh dear! we seem to have a difference in opinion

i will look at both type-r's and RA's and will purchase the individual car that ticks all the boxes and feels like the right one when viewing. but to be honest people are still asking quite a lot for them - even in this climate,.... being a buyers market n all. version 5 and 6 cars can be found for as little as 5k but most of the time they are more like 8k,,, which, for a 10year old scooby calls into question whether it is worth it. decisions, decisions............i'm quite hesitant having already owned a classic and knowing what parts can wear and can need replacing in a car of that age. sticky calipers, worn clutches etc can add to the concerns. but i suppose making sure the car is not up for a big service, cambelt change etc is something to also consider.

Re: sold the scooby today :-(

bargains are to be had though. I got my v4 Type R with 49k for 3700. No mechanic issues, full service history and recent new tyres, brakes etc. A car is worth what people will pay for them. They can ask all they like.. 3 cars I had on my to consider list are still all still up for sale as they are asking to much.

Good luck anyway... pardon my ignorance here though but I wasn't aware you could sell a car till the insurance had actually made their settlement figure?? or thats what I was told when someone reversed into my xr3i cabby.
