Samco Silicon Hoses

This applies to any car...

Do you install for performance (Reliability under hard driving - Hoses splitting etc) or looks?

Wouldnt know if they make any performance difference as they where on the car when I bought it, but I do think they help with the looks a bit

Mainly for looks.

Altough the samco pipe i fitted from the turbocharger to the intercooler seemed to make a big difference.

Dont the Samco's allow bigger 'boosts' or pressures or something? I have a complete Samco kit on mine... No idea if it does anything tho!!

Silicon hoses operate at much higher temperatures and pressures than other hoses

Think the full engine sets are mainly for show to be fair coz lets face it as far as breather vac and water pipes go nowts really gonna improve, would have to say though on the induction side of things there is advantages to be had by better airflow especially if youre still running a std topmount intercooler-check the plastic y pipe that feeds the intercooler-theyre prone to splitting and for not being a terribly good seal(plastic gripping metal pipes on intercooler)also its sorta ribbed-now you compare that with the samco equivalent silicon hose-nice tight fit no ribs just smooth insides of pipe and if im honest bigger diameter as it doesnt narrow off in places like the std plastic one so to me can only mean better airflow-which is what its all about-you`d be suprised with the gains you get from less restrictive pipes be it diameter or less bends etc in either exhausts or induction pipework.Got the intercooler set on mine think they were about 70 quid if i remember right, think theres also gains to be had by fitting the one from the turbo up to the pipe with the maf on as the plastic one narrows off a bit where it threads between inlet manifold.

REMEMBER any gain is a gain they all mount up no matter how small-pmsl "winning is winning wether it be by an inch or a mile"- i`ll take any gain i can get
