Exclamation Cat gone

Hi

My center cat for my my00 classic has gone. Herd this rattling from underneath and thought a heat shield had come loose but had it up on the ramp and there okay, banged on the cat and you can hear the bits inside rattle about.

Q1. Would a dead center cat make the car hold back and then surge on HALF throttle. (iv already changed MAF Sensor and cleaned boost solenoid) which made it better before the cat went, im 90% sure.

Q2. If I just took the cat out and put a de cat on it, would it need a re map? (already have aftermarket back box on).

Bit of a mouthful i know sorry lol any info would be great ta!

Jimmy

Re: Cat gone

if the cat has collasped and rattling usually it wont affect the running of the car too much but if it has become broken and blocked then it will cause increased pressure in the exhaust and in turn it wouldnt run as it should as the exhaust gasses cant escape. As for a decat, you probably be ok without a remap but a remap will help, engine management light may come on but very unlikely with only the lower cat i would have though
