New downpipe

8) 8) hello people here one for you ,

I'm thinking of getting a downpipe & up-pipe as well but needed some
questions answered first ;;
1 ; does it matter which one you buy ??

2 ; abviously there's a sensor in the standard one , what will happen when i take
it out , ie , does it go back in the de-catted one .

3 ; also how will this affect the ecu ???

4 ; how much louder will it get as i dont want it to go OTT ,,

sorry for questions but i dont want to waste money on something that i'll
regret later

This months Japanese Performance would be a good start, there an article in there.
Says, briefly,
Go for the Decat down pipe, more power better noise, you can hear the turbo spinning up big time.
Sensor problems, they said yes, I dont know.
Removing a Cat will probably kill you warrenty, I reckon.

Please keep us informed what you do cause I am interested in removing the Catted DP.

Cheers
Jase

May not get through the MOT as the cats are out? unsure about this someone may need to confirm.

dont think the decat alone addz to much to the volume all depends on the speaker (the back box)

please keep us informed....

You wont be having an MOT for a while though???

They, whoever they may be, say that you can get away with removing one Cat and shouldnt fail MOT. Also have a look at one of ScoobyWorlds cars http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/trolleyed/democar.htm , they fitted a Decat DP. Might be worth giving them a bell to find out if they had any issues.

Iam thinking about buying the Afterburner Decat DP for 200 from them

I thought the ppp did away with the cats? and the ecu should learn the new set up and allow it to pass mot check?
Sure thats what guy at the garage said.
But as stated, may void warrenty as not ppp

OK the way it works is as follows]

Classic Impreza - 2 Cats in place - 1 in the centre pipe and 1 in the down pipe. The PPP for these cars consists of the removal of the centre cat only and the d/p cat stays in place.

Bug Eye and NewAge has 3 cats in place - 1 in the centre pipe - 1 in the down pipe and 1 in the up pipe. The PPP consits of removal of the centre pipe cat and a high flow sports cat fitted to the down pipe. I do belive the up pipe cat stays in place.

I hope this helps
