replacing standard tyres

hi all,

have recently purchased an 06 2.5 wrx...

want to replace all of the tyres, the car has bridgestone re050's on it...

ideally i'd like to stay with the same (unless someone has any better ideas!!)...

however, there seem to be a few different varieties of the re050... any ideas folks would be much appreciated!!

Toyo proxes T1R's are a very good all round tyre.

Re: replacing standard tyres

As Pete has said..

other favourites are Goodyear GSD's,Falken,Khumo,Yokohama, the choice is endless..i've run Falken on mine since i've had it,but have used Yoko's on previous, good tyre but soft compound, grip is fantastic but, they don't last long..Goodyear,again good grip,a harder wearing tyre, middle of the road, equal on grip and tread wear are my personal favourites the Falkens along with the Khumo,at the end of the day, your car, your choice

Re: replacing standard tyres

Love yoke`s-on my 2nd set an im pretty easy on tyres but generally out of parada spec 2`s get 10k mile.

Mint tyres when warm but still not the best in the wet(typically yokohama)very very low road noise-first time i put them on thought i`d got in a newer car were loads quiter.

Couldnt get goodyear f1`s in my size originally 215/35x18 but ya can now so i think next time.....maybe anyway i`ll try them just yrs ago had aggro with weak sidewalls on goodyear`s an had a newish tyre ruined by a mild pothole in the road-the yokes take any amount of grief-really strong walls.

Yet to try T1R`s but generally are pretty good value and a good all rounder-plenty of folk use them.
Best sealant used to date- Fourstar ultimate paint protection *Now discontinued* Rebranded as sonus SFX4 paint sealant-Try some ya wont be dissapointed.

Re: replacing standard tyres

For track I found Toyo proxies TR1 very soft on sidewall and completely scrubbed the corners with 4mm tread left but unusable. Never again.

Yoko S-Drives, superb grip in the wet, stronger sidewalls and better than Parada Spec-2's. Good price as well.

Re: replacing standard tyres

Agree with 2002pete. I had Bridgestone RE070 then changed my alloys and put on Toyo T1Rs. Found the RE70ís performed better in the dry but the T1Rs seemed to be a better all-round road tyre
