Front Bumper replacement?

Just found an original Subaru front bumper for my V5 STi on Yahoo auctions for 100 quid in the right colour and with front fogs. One of my fogs has a hole in the glass so needs replacing anyway.
Question is, are front bumpers an easy change to do myself? Debating wether to grab it or not. Only 3 hours left though no bids yet so guess he'll probly put it back on.

Cheers Chaps!

Sounds a bargain Wayne havent taking my bumper off my scoob or any scoob but done a couple before on other cars normally just plastic screws and screws a bit tedious but you could do it on other cars had to take off wheel arch splash sheilds both sides of the bumper and you will have to take grill off to and have plastic screw clips incase you break some as they somtimes annoying to get out

What i thought really but i seem to remember somebody on here having problems getting theirs off. If he's re-listed it I'll do a buy-it-now.

Re: Front Bumper replacement?

Finally managed to get one for a decent price (only took 6 months), only 50 quid for one off of a V5 WRX RA Ltd so a straight swap. Great condition apart from 1 very minor scuff.

Will tackle it at the weekend so any final hints and tips from anyone that has done this will be greatly received. お願いします。

Re: Front Bumper replacement?

Hiya, personally put the front of the car on stands and take the front wheels off. Lights and, grill etc off... The trangular clamp and bolt thingys on the front wings, and the bolts on the chassis frame (sort of at the bottom back of the radiator) are to be be removed as well. If you take the old bumper off your old frame to re-use, push the lug/clips up fron underneath, so you dont wreck them and need to by new ones Make sure the frames are compliant (there are four types), marry the frame to your new bumper and replace (on the guards first) Replacing the rounded triangular clip and bolt thingy can test your patience, (and make sure the aluminium plate the sits against the inside edge of the bumper an at the bottom of the guard all marrys up, the bumper has a recess for it), so be warned. Replace the bolts in the engine bay and presto! Hope thats a bit of a help. Regards Tim

You've got a point there.

However, I'm more than capable of stuffing up the simplest of things. I'll post pics of the aftermath.

Nice one Wayne.

Link shows the top clips holding the bumper on. (use a small screwdriver to prise the inner part of the clip out)
