Angry once last hand or chuck it all in

My scoob is on last legs I fear and is destined to visit the big scrappy in the sky

First of all gear box is bust, so need new or Recon., rad gone again, and now I think her heart has packed up , I tried starting last week after standing for month and half and she fired up, lil rich smelly got to temp and settled, tried starting up for gettin out the garage yesterday, wouldn't start, I jumped off my civic and ran , and after a few seconds a squealing belt noise appeared, then loud banging and sparks and smoke were p**sing out and had a rich oily fuel smell, I switched off allowed to cool, re tried and now she won't fire at all , sound like the start is whirling, I guess that the click noise soon as key engages is starter any way,

So does it sound knackered and should give up

Sounds like you've got probs mate but it can be recovered. The squealing is just the the needs adjusting, the clicking it the starter motor telling you there isn;t enough juice in the battery.
Where were the sparks and smoke coming from ?

I have a look and all the belts seem fine and tight ,

And the sparks seemed to appear from under the alt area near the oil sump looking area,

Was a Hell of a metallic drumming noise tho so not holding breath

You won't be able to see the timing belt mate, it;s behind the plastic cover at the front of the engine. You need to remove the rad fans to get at it.

Re: once last hand or chuck it all in

sparks near the sump...hmmm,sounds interesting, only hing i can think would casue sparking down there is fuel igniting in the headers a leaking through a buggered seal...

have you checked the block at all,it may have been holed, but it's normally the topside that goes, mind you there would be a tell tale sign of oil and/or piston rings on the floor

but from what you say,i'd guess a blocked oil feed pipe has caused the engine to cease

Look at the engine from the front, its on the right towards the back where the transmission is bolted to the engine. It's pretty deep in there

Re: once last hand or chuck it all in

Hi , after few days of messing around and having few mates up to help, we got it running, firstly starter is breaking up, so a good Sharp smack and fired up, noticed a few crackles, and was a wire touching something causing sparks, apparently that is what was causing flashes and poss some smoke, drove it around in a small yard as its sorn and let it heat up and all fine, fans kicked in, and the leaking rad for now ain't leaking lol

Well that was last week, took it out of garage today, and she was really grumbly, she was lumpy, I gave a few blaps of throttle and had a hesitate then revved up and idled fine , but seemed to be missing when moving, would this be fouled plugs, or Ecu needs resettin as I needed a battery also
