CEL - 5 slow flashes?

Happens very infrequently by coincidence in the same place driving home. Giving it some "beans" going up a relatively steep hill I see 5 slow flashes of the CEL.
Happened last night. Checked with ECU Explorer when I got home but no fault codes showing. Everything running as it should be otherwise

Re: CEL - 5 slow flashes?

Cheers Ed.
Tickover is silky smooth at about 650 rpm.
Just seems weird that it happens where it does. Blow the cob webs out anywhere else, and it's fine.
So might be O2 sensor. Easy to change ???

Re: CEL - 5 slow flashes?

it could well be,if ET put a new one in during the build and refit, they've possibly used one of the jobbies from Mill Autoquip, easy way to see if they have is look at the wires n see if there are soldered joints with plastic sleves

very easy to change/replace,unplug from the loom and iirc 22mm spanner/socket and out it comes

Re: CEL - 5 slow flashes?

Cheers again. One other thing. Sometimes get a slight stutter when hitting the gas quickly. Accelerate steadily and it pulls smoothly and strongly ....very strongly.

Re: CEL - 5 slow flashes?

it could the the TPS sticking, could be an idea just to check cables are not restricted under the bonnet, but then again if the o2 is on it's way you'll end up with allsorts of little gremilns appearing

Re: CEL - 5 slow flashes?

could just be the common cam sensor blip after giving it some revs

Cam sensor replaced last month. Symptom was CEL light was coming on at about 5K rpm and went out after 5 starts. Thanks anyway.

Re: CEL - 5 slow flashes?

Been to see Martyn. Turned out to be the Forge DV I had fitted when the engine was done. Apparently a WRX failing. Causes the ECU to throw up a "knock" code. Put the OE back on now and seems fine.

Oh and Martyn gave the Map a tweak or 2
Now 345.5 BHP with 340 torque thingies(up from 285)

Re: CEL - 5 slow flashes?

I had exactly the same scenario, on hills etc on full boost the EML would blink from time to time. No fault code was stored, so the scenario was created again with a Subaru Code Reader plugged in. It was miss-fire on cylinders 1 & 3, plugs were re-gapped and problem sorted.

Funny you should say that. Replacing BOV didn't cure the issue. Lumpy pickup, flashing CEL and "20B1<no code>" again!! Went back down to ET last week and Martyn whipped the plugs out regapped them and fingers crossed seems OK now. Running much smoother and pick up is much better.

Note: Code "20B1 <no code>" (Missfire related) didn't show with ECU explorer but did with ECUTEK
Delta Dash.
