the td04 would be downgrading the turbo matey a new td05 16g or second hand would be best bet, or upgrade to a larger td05 18g

As Tidgy says.

Bear in mind that if you want to change turbos you'll be looking at a possible (recommended) re-map to get the most out of it and have it run safe. I would assume if you swap like for like this wouldn't be necessary though Tidgy know a lot more about that side of things than i do. I'd agree with Tidgy and say stick with the TD05 in either case.

iv got a vf23 on my jdm sti 3 is that the oem one?

Seems that some V3 STi's came with the VF22 and some came with the VF23 as standard. All a bit confusing really.
