FAST STARTING AND STOPPING

I have some strange things happening with my 2008 WRX STI UK and I wondered if anyone might be able to shed any light on them:
It first began with a cut-out when it reached maximum boost of 2 bar. Simply a momentary off which seems savage when it happens obviously, because I've got my foot to the floor. The EML comes on, going off after a few trips. Diagnostics shows a boost solenoid problem, however swapping both that and the MAF sensor changed nothing.
Since the first cut-out episode, the car has gradually started running badly; uneven slow running and revving to 3000rpm on cold start. This is the same wether the EML is on or off.
Further diagnostics shows no other problems. All pipe connections are fine.

Any help wouldbe much appreciated.
