need help! high idle problem!

hi i have a 2000 impreza with a 99 2.2l none turbo engine, recently i have had to dump a tune of money into this thing, cat,o2 sensor, injector cleaning. thought that would be enough to get the car to pass emissions test but sadly NO i ended up have yet another code a p1507 so i did some searching and low and be hold it was the IACV and i also noticed the the tps was broke and just zip tide on so i replaced both and when starting the car i notice that I had an erratic idle and it dropped almost to 0 rpm, so more searching got me no were. I then though to unplug the batter for a bit, reconnected it and turned it on and i work but then shortly after i had a REALY HIGH idle like 1500 to 2000 even 2200 rpms, tried to reset it again, it went away and was find for a few day and now it high idle is back?

ps. the idle stays high even driving

if someone out there can help me figure this out soon so i don't have to spend a crap tune of money again you will be my hero! please i need help soon I only have till 10-22-14 that is when my last temp tag expires.

Exclamation Re: need help! high idle problem!

Hi. I need help too.
I have the same problem.
When I got the car it was ok for a week. The previous owner had fitted a k&n air filter and put small breathers on the other hoses that should be connected to the original air box.
All of a sudden it started running lumpy, misfiring and cutting out.
It's been in the local mechanics for a week and also had a mobile mechanic take a look.
After a diagnostic test it came up with 4 different codes.
I had to change the plugs,
The lambda sensor has been replaced as well as the iacv. The hoses have been linked to form circulation again but it's still runnin bad. Idle is up and down between 500rpm & 2300.
What else can I do....??

Re: need help! high idle problem!

I haven't managed to get hold of an original air box yet but after having another look the maf sensor is not there either? Do I still need this? There is a map sensor which is plugged into the loom but looks like it should have a hose attached but hasn't.

Re: need help! high idle problem!

Thanks Bob. I thought it wasn't right but can't understand how it was running fine with out it for a while.
I'm obviously not a mechanic but I am mechanically minded. I'm gonna try and get hold of an original air box and maf. Get a diagnostic test and go from there. Thanks again for your help.

Re: need help! high idle problem!

Hi not had chance to take a pic yet but just been told to reset the ecu after changing parts to clear error codes and this should make it run better is that true.
I've also been told my car isn't meant to have a maf sensor it works off a map sensor.

Re: need help! high idle problem!

oh ok then, you learn something new every day

Can you confirm what the 2.2 N/A Lump is from and what ecu you have?
Only there is a Maff listed for sale for a 2.2.
