engine advice

Hi guys!

I'm new here. I've got a my99 turbo 2000.
It's just got to 139k on the clock. The engine appears to be running well, no funny noises or smoke etc. Do I now spend my money on a major service, Inc belt, tensioner and waterpump etc. Or source and fit a lower mileage engine? And I've also spotted some companies offering supply and fit on exchange basis for 1300?
Cheers guys

your better off keeping your engine if it is running properly and getting a major service, you don't know what your going to get with an engine swap. Mine has done over 155k and its a my99 turbo 2000 had the timing belt and MAF sensor changed 2 months ago and its still running sweet its even been remapped.

Re: engine advice

Cheers for the advice mate!
That's the option I'd prefer. I've just noticed I have an oil leak at the oil pan gasket. And my coolant has gone a rusty colour in the resovoir. Anything to be concerned about?
My main concern is putting another 6/700 into this engine, or more for it to go kaput in 1000 miles.

Re: engine advice

first off, you dont need to do the water pump, also untill looked at no way of knowing if you do need tensioners or pulleys.

If your worried get a specialist to check it out and advise either way. may find a decent service and you get another 100k from it

Re: engine advice

at 139k I would be tempted to swap the water pump if honest if I was doing a cambelt,
I agree they dont need swapping at every cambelt swap, but if you have no history ud be daft not to swap it as if it was to weep after its a PITA for a few pump.

Re: engine advice

I suppose it all depends. When was the last time you got it serviced? If you don't know what condition it's in, then it would be worth asking someone to at least take a look.
Then again, I'd rather be safe than sorry.
