How to get to 275bhp

Gents,

I have a wrx hatch with the 2.5 turbo engine.
I have added a cosworth induction kit (away from engine in wing) and
a 2.5 inch from centre cat back exhaust.
I have had it remapped by Duncan @ racedynamix and it's now running 254 bhp and 293 ft lbs of torque.
Essentially it's quicker than a wrx and wrx-s but not as bonkers as the sti.

What should I do next to try and get to 275bhp and just over the 300 ft lbs of torque which is where I ultimately want to be.

Your advice appreciated.

Regards
Rhys

Re: How to get to 275bhp

what has Duncan said is the limiting factor ?
then you change that . . .
so if the turbo wont move anymore air you need a new one, if the injectors are at their max you need new ones.

Re: How to get to 275bhp

Hi,

Duncan advised a 3 port boost solenoid, but the turbo and injectors should be fine to 300bhp. He did mention that the TMIC was on the small side and could do with an upgrade if pushing for 300.

Cant imagine the 3 port solenoid would be enough to eek another 20 bhp out of it though, but maybe coupled with a perrin or similar upgraded TMIC it might? (assuming the turbo will still direct fit)

Rhys

Hi,

Yea i expect its probably at its upper limits.
I have looked at changing the turbo and intercooler, and adding a perrin lightweight crank pulley, as well as the 3 port solenoid.

The above would be a big spend to only get around 20-30 bhp so i dont think there will be any point.

I might look at putting a sports cat in and trying to gain a few bhp that way as it will be a cheaper option and it may gain circa 5-10 bhp more.

Regards,
Rhys

Re: How to get to 275bhp

Interesting reading. I realise it's an old thread but I was attracted by the title as I've just had a remap that hit 272.

So how did you get on Rhys?

I have a different model. A 2004 2.0l wrx blob. Dan at Surrey Scoob uprated the fuel pump and replaced the centre and back box with a 2nd hand Prodrive set-up I picked up on eBay.

I also replaced the panel filter with a Pipercross.

Duncan remapped it and it made 272..with slightly more torque. He was impressed by the figure it made. He thought it would hit 290 if I removed (or replaced with sports cat) the first cat....its just a slippery slope

Re: How to get to 275bhp

Hi,

After removing the centre cat and adding a 3 port solenoid and a deatschwerks fuel pump it is now circa 265-270 and 320 ft lbs or torque.
It runs like a dream and is smooth as silk but capable when poked with a stick lol.
I don't really think I will go any more than this as it feels just right

Great stuff.

Yes, thats what I found too. It feels so smooth driving it now..like having a new car. If I had known the remap was going to improve things this much I would have done it as soon as I bought the car

Jus.
