Engine Problem - Won't Run above tick-over when warm

My Scooby:

Date of First Registration 04 05 2001
Year of Manufacture 2001
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1994cc
CO₂ Emissions 227 g/km
Fuel Type PETROL
Export Marker N

It's a GX I believe, with a few little external mods and bits and pieces to look like a WRX.

I have had it for over a year, been driving fine.

Recently it has started to cut-out slightly when warm (infrequent conditions)

Average Scenario:

1. Get in the car
2. Starts up fine
3. Drives out onto the road fine
4. No problems
5. (2-5 mins later 0.5-1 mile down the road, the revs cut down, it wont rev above 2k revs and can only hold the revs on about 0.8k revs... Can only just make it back home.

So it doesn't like to work when it gets hot.
I was looking online and people are mentioning it could be a sensor that needs either cleaning or replacing. Supposedly the 'crank sensor' or 'water temp sensor', here's one of the threads I found: Wont start when warm!

I made a new thread as that one is 10 years old!

Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Josh.

CTS(Coolant Temp Sensor) would be a good place to start

Cheers, I will have a look at that then... Doe's anyone know a low priced alternative to contacting subaru directly? Any good scrapyards / salvage businesses related to scoobies?

Thanks.
